Home / Life / Motherly Stories Motherhood without fear: It’s a ‘privilege’ instagram.com/priscillatbrown/ By Priscilla Brown March 3, 2022 instagram.com/priscillatbrown/ Rectangle A South Carolina mom’s Instagram post is resonating with moms who are feeling conflicted about the privilege they have while moms in Ukraine—and elsewhere in the world—deal with the devastation of war, hunger and oppression. She writes: as a white american middle class woman, i am quite privileged. privileged to have my freedom as i write this from the safety of my home. privileged to be feeding and rocking my babies today, not shielding them from bombs or battles. “my heart aches for them today as i look for ways to help in what feels like a helpless situation.” right now there are mothers fleeing Ukraine with their babies in their arms as a war erupts around them. these mothers who want the same things for their children as i do, who think as i do, who sing to their babies as i do, who love as i do. but they are going through the unimaginable simply because of the country they are from. my heart aches for them today as i look for ways to help in what feels like a helpless situation.
