We asked and you delivered. Thank you to the hundreds of mamas who shared their coronavirus quarantine stories with us. We both teared up and smiled while looking through all of the beautiful photos of your children and the sentiment behind the fact that no matter who we are or where we are in the world, right now, we’re all in this together.

Whether going on walks as much as possible or attempting to keep busy at home with crafty and creative ideas for children of varying ages, you showed us what your social distancing situation looks like right now—and guess what? It’s very similar to ours.

From New York to California and from Finland to Hong Kong, here is a peek into life right now for 50 different mamas around the world.

1. Laura Bertolini in Rome, Italy

kids with artwork

My two boys, locked in our house since March 5th. Today is Father’s Day and they’re proudly showing their presents for Daddy ❤ We’re trying our best to stay positive and healthy, smiling a lot and spend quality time with the kids, but the situation is indeed scary. My husband and I are smart-working because we are both software engineers, and it is definitely a privilege! We also have another daughter aged 1, the day-to-day is not easy at all. Stay safe Mamas and Daddy’s, sending virtual hugs to you all ❤ you’ve got this!

2. Jessica Farley in Minnesota

toddler on a couch

Watertown, MN. Have been isolating since the weekend. I’ve been temporarily laid off from the restaurant that I work at too. People in our neighborhood put up shamrocks in street facing windows and doors so that families could play a scavenger hunt by driving around or when out on walks. All trying to work together to keep kids occupied while not being together! We plan to continue this with other shapes, etc. Someone had a great idea with this! Art projects to make the shamrock and then the scavenger hunt!

3. Jovelyn Panis-Evensen in Norway

woman with children

Norway here. One week ago since kindergarten closed and the country has been on lock down. Dad works in the health sector mainly night-shifts. Very active big brother is almost 3 years old and loves to be outside. He misses his stones, sand and water and our 5 months old loves to sleep outside. Thankful to have free access to amazing nature here so we can just go in the middle of nowhere by ourselves and enjoy grilling hotdogs and some warm coffees. Where social distancing doesn’t exist. ❤️✌️

4. Christine Wong in Singapore

Day 12 self-quarantined in Singapore! 🇸🇬 We’re learning about animals today. Here’re the little ones organizing their own animal adoption drive.

5. Sini Siimes in Finland

woman with baby

Finland, with a five months old baby, we’ve been social distancing for four days today. Days are full of trying to keep her happy. Usually we are doing lot of things with other people outside our home. I think she is doing well. For me it takes more. I get power and resources from seeing other people and it’s the best way to spend time. I’m waiting for all the fun days with friends when this situation is over. ❤️

6. Maryke Stern in South Africa

kids cooking

Hi from a farm near a small town in countryside South Africa! Our schools and boarding schools closed, we have been asked to stay at home but life pretty much… for now… goes on as ‘normal’ apart from government declaring it as National disaster, asked for social distancing. So not quite quarantined but no big groups allowed to gather and a few other strict regulations. We also mostly stay home and just do the necessary things ie shop for food. We keep ourselves busy doing quality time together…cooking (here we are baking cookies!), reading, walking outside on farm, playing, I work mostly from home, and the schools has send work home. So interesting to read everyone’s stories! Keep shining and keep your homes a restful place!!

7. Kristen Bellows in Toronto, Ontario

woman in medical mask

I’m a mom of a 3-year-old and currently 10-weeks pregnant with our second. What I thought would be a happy time has been extremely stressful. While the observations around COVID-19 and pregnancy are hopeful there are still so many unknowns and I don’t know what to think. I work in community mental health as a teacher and since we have a health clinic and pharmacy we can’t close. I am on rotation to screen clients as they come into the building so no self-isolation for me. My partner stays at home with our son.

8. Paige Mitchell in England

what quarantine looks like around the world 7 Motherly

Military family stationed in England. Just arrived here so we haven’t moved into our home and are currently living in “temporary lodging”. Had plans to go home to the states in May to visit family but as of now, that will not be happening since there is a travel ban preventing us from leaving the local area.

9. Nicki Castillo in South Texas

woman on couch with baby

We are technically on Spring Break, but our district has canceled school until further notice. We canceled our family vacation to Scottsdale Arizona. Just enjoying the time with my husband and 17 month old. We are both high school band directors so having so much time off feels really crazy!!

10. Klara Merv in Germany

I work in the laboratory as a scientist. (We are the one who do the testing for COVID-19) I still go to work, because the hospitals/laboratory don’t close. How I wish I can stay at home with my 16-month baby girl! Praying for all the mommas around the world. (Can’t even kiss my baby and need to wear mask at home.)

19. Laura C. Llanso in Maryland

20. Michelle Dumit in Colombia

We are in Colombia 🇨🇴. 5 days with social distancing and we begin tomorrow total isolation in the city. It’s been fun but we miss going to the park.

21. Caitlin Heckenliable in West Valley City, Utah

mom and kids under table

We we’re already social distancing due to my 4-year-old having a tonsillectomy a little over a week ago. He’s doing much better but now we’re trying to practice social distancing while non-stop communicating with family and friends due to the 5.7 earthquake that rocked right near our home yesterday. And now we’re dealing with the aftershocks.

22. Kim Uren Perth in Western Australia

family playing game

We are at the end of day 2 of self-isolation. We have just been notified today that as of Friday Australia’s borders will be closed to all internationals. Pictured with 2 of our 4 kids, 3 of which are all school age plus a toddler. We will be making an effort to carve out ‘school work hours’ every day with the kids and fill the rest of the time with board games, movies, cooking, baking and other activities. So far we’ve definitely spent a lot of time eating, so thinking we need to come up with a way to burn some energy too. Maybe a daily dance off is in order, 😂😁 Very uncertain times here in Australia, but here in our little bubble we’ll just look out for each other as best we can.

23. Patti Goyette in Cape May, NJ

piggy back ride

We have been home since Monday. So far we are keeping active with long walks and at home activities. We live in a town that survives on tourism. We are trying to stay positive that this will end soon and praying for everyone!! 🙏

So we have been social distancing from January already, and have been in self isolation, under advisement from his specialist’s, for 2 weeks now. We are on 116 cases so far and has been declared National disaster in our country. Has been a very scary time. Here my son is with his familiar faces cards of his family💙😟

We watch Frozen 2 at least once a day, try to keep up with this temporary homeschooling madness. It’s been 8 days since my girl’s school closed because a parent of a student tested positive. The rest of the schools in the country closed on Monday. My husband still has to go out because of work.

48. Lindsay Anstett in Maryland

kid jumping in puddles

Social distancing since March 1 when my girls got the stomach flu. Then social isolation as of 3/11, when they spiked fevers due to strep. My girls were sick, we stayed home—it makes good sense even when there isn’t a pandemic to worry about! Now we’re truly isolating—no parks, stores, appointments or work. Groceries delivered, outside time in our buildings courtyard.

49. Sarah Cooper in NSW Australia

baby in grass

Not much change. Still going out as I have to work, daughter still in day care twice a week. Just being more cautious and taking extra precautions. Our schools are all still open and where possible people work from home. I work in disability so can’t! Life is pretty much normal right now. We survived drought, bush-fires and floods in the last year we can survive this!

50. Niki Hawel in Ontario, Canada

Day 5. Husband is an essential service so he is still working. Only time bubs and I have left the house is to walk our dogs once or twice a day around the neighborhood. Niki Hawel
