Got Toys ‘R’ Us and Babies ‘R’ Us gift cards? Spend them NOW

If you have a Toys “R” Us or Babies “R” Us gift card in your wallet right now, you should spend it as soon as possible.

The troubled toy and baby gear retailer has announced it’s seeking approval to liquidate inventory at its U.S. stores. This comes after the company filed for bankruptcy protection last September and then announced restructuring efforts.

Parents need to use their gift cards and registry rewards within the next month or risk losing them.

“Gift cards along with Rewards dollars and Endless Earnings are being honored for the next 30 days,” Toys “R” Us spokesperson Taylor O’Donnell tells Motherly.

So if you have gift cards for Toys “R” Us or Babies “R” Us, or Endless Earnings rewards accumulated through your baby registry, you should plan a shopping trip ASAP.

Popular items may go quickly once the liquidation sales start, so if there’s something you really want now’s the time to buy.

When it comes to baby gear, some models and colors are exclusive to Babies ‘R’ Us, so if you’ve got your heart set on something you can’t get anywhere else, act fast!

Baby gear expert Julie McCaffrey, the founder and Chief Baby Planner at BabyNav, a maternity concierge service, previously told Motherly she suggests parents choose products they’ll need, and items that they’re unlikely to need to return. “Look for items without a lot of moving parts or electronics as you won’t be able to make returns,” she says. “It is a great time to load up on diapers, wipes, feeding items or clothing.”

And if you’ve got an older child who has been hanging onto a Toys “R” Us gift card for a rainy day, take them down to cash it in as soon as you can.
