Ryan Reynolds on being a girl dad: ‘I love every second of it’

Ryan Reynolds opened up about being a girl dad, the superheroes in his life, and rocking a top knot in an adorable new interview.

Who was at the other end of the microphone? Reynolds was interviewed by Access Hollywood host Mario Lopez’s children, Gia and Dominic, while he promotes his new film, The Croods: A New Age.

Dominic, 7, kicked off the interview by asking Reynolds if he asked the animators to give him more muscles than he has in real life and if the actor would ever rock a top knot like his character, Guy.

Reynolds laughed while complimenting Guy’s “physique” and said his daughters probably wouldn’t let him wear a topknot at home.

Gia, 10, then excitedly asked, “In the movie, the moms and girls save the day. Are your wife and daughters the superheroes in your family?”

“You know something, no joke, they’re the most capable people I know,” Reynolds responded earnestly. “If anything got crazy or scary in my life, they’re the first people that I would lean on. They have wisdom and strength, and they’re calm under fire. They have courage under fire—so yeah, that to me sounds like a true story.”

Reynolds shares three daughters with wife Blake Lively: James, 5, Inez, 4, and Betty, 1.

Gia then asked the actor, “what makes you the ultimate girl dad?”

“I love being a girl dad,” Reynolds answered, smiling. “I have three daughters, which I never in a million years would imagine.”

“I come from all boys,” he explained. “I have three older brothers, I’m the youngest of four boys. So, for me to have three daughters has been such a ride, and I love every second of it.”

Reynolds then said that he just tries “to be as present as possible.”

“We don’t split up. I shoot movies and my wife shoots movies and we go travel all over the place and we just all go together,” he continued. “I think that that’s been the best part of it. We really don’t spend a lot of time apart. I get to spend a lot of time with my girls.”
