Anna Faris opens up about coparenting her tween son with ex-husband Chris Pratt

Somehow, we all blinked and it’s been seven years since Anna Faris and Chris Pratt split up. Even harder to believe is that their adorable son, Jack Daniel, is now 11 years old. That puts him firmly into tween territory, and when Faris appeared as a guest on Today earlier this week, she told co-hosts. Hoda Kotb and Justin Sylvester that he’s already starting to go through puberty.

Faris was on Today to promote her new movie, My Spy The Eternal City, but the House Bunny star also opened up about her family and co-parenting with Pratt. When looking back on the last seven years and how fast Jack has grown up, she admitted, “You miss it sometimes when you look at old photos.”

She added, “I think I’m really loving this age. Although, he told me that he has an armpit hair, so it’s happening.”

Sylvester laughed and responded, “Get ready, honey. It is happening.”

Since they separated and divorced several years ago Faris and Pratt have worked on their co-parenting relationship. In April 2019, Faris opened up to Laura Wasser on her Divorce Sucks! podcast about co-parenting with Pratt and navigating how to blend their family with those of their new partners.

“Grudge-holding is not something that Chris and I do. So, we wanted to make sure, of course, that Jack was happy, but that we were happy and supportive of each other and that we could have this fantasy idea of, do we all spend Christmas together? Do we all vacation together? How do we make sure that everybody that we love feels safe, and that we also respect the love we have for each other?” Faris said.

Since their split, both Faris and Pratt have both moved on. Faris got engaged to cinematographer Michael Barrett in 2019, and the pair eloped in 2021. She’s now a stepmom to his two kids. And Pratt is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt. They share two daughters together. Faris has previously opened up about how close the two families have become—and how she feels “lucky” to have such a great coparenting relationship with both Pratt and his wife.

“We’re all getting much closer, and I so appreciate that,” she told People magazine in 2022. “They’re very protective of me, and I want to be very protective of them. I so appreciate their support.”

She’s had particularly kind things to say about Schwarzenegger Pratt, who she said is “awesome.” 

“She’s just on top of it. I love how she is with Jack,” Faris added.

Despite her split from Pratt being public and painful, Faris continued, “I’m happy with that element. And it feels just much easier now that time has passed. It feels really good to not live with that internal churning of unpleasantness.”
