By Kristina MacIsaac March 25, 2021 Chrissy Teigen/Instagram Rectangle Chrissy Teigen has deactivated her Twitter account, saying the social media platform “made me somebody you didn’t sign up for.” Teigen had more than 13 million followers on Twitter, and frequently used it to give fans a glimpse into her private life. She shared details of her devastating pregnancy loss in October 2020, taking a hiatus in the weeks that followed. Teigen also opened up on Twitter about her decision to get sober earlier this year. The model and cookbook author’s decision to reveal two such personal subjects won praise from legions of fansâbut she was also routinely subjected to taunting and harassment. Chrissy Teigen/Twitter Teigen’s final Twitter thread alluded to struggles with handling the negativity directed her way on the platform, and how it began to affect her mental health. “Hey. For over 10 years, you guys have been my world. I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends,” she wrote in a series of tweets now. “But it’s time for me to say goodbye. This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that’s the right time to call something.” “My life goal is to make people happy,” Teigen continued. “The pain I feel when I don’t is too much for me. I’ve always been portrayed as the strong clap back girl but I’m just not.” She said her time on the site “made me somebody you didn’t sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as.” “Live well, tweeters,” one of Teigen’s final posts said. “Please know all I’ve ever cared about was you!!!” Teigen is still on Instagram, where she confirmed her departure from Twitter and said she didn’t blame the platform itself. “It’s not the ‘bullying.’ And it’s not the trolls,” she wrote. “The trolls I can deal with, although it weighs on you. It’s just me. I have to come to terms with the fact some people aren’t gonna like me. I hate letting people down or upsetting people and I feel like I just did it over and over and over. Someone can’t read that they disappointed you in some way every single day, all day without physically absorbing that energy. I can feel it in my bones.” data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version=”4″ style=” background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% – 2px); width:calc(100% – 2px);”> You don’t have to have tens of millions of followers to feel like Teigen does.
