Disneyland debuts their new Ariel princess—and fans are EMOTIONAL

Disney’s live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” has been the talk of the town ever since they released the official trailer. From lovers to haters, everyone has thoughts and feelings about the fictional mermaid tale.

Since the beloved classic dropped in theaters last week, the comments haven’t stopped. But now people are reacting to something else. Just like with other Disney movies, Disneyland followed suit with the reveal of the new princess. She’s on the ground, greeting visitors and spreading movie magic. The presence of a woman of color princess, inspired by Halle Bailey’s Ariel, is putting people in their feels once again.

The new princess looks beautiful! She’s seen alongside the original Ariel and it looks like they’ll both be featured at Disney parks.

Halle Bailey’s Ariel has had an emotional impact on people of color all over the world. From the very beginning, when TikToks emerged of little girls’ reaction to a Black Ariel, it’s been clear that seeing a Black princess on the big screen has been impactful for all.

Now, there are social media reactions to the meet and greet of the live-action Ariel. And, yes, they are just as touching and emotional.

 Mouse Steps is a YouTube channel dedicated to Disney park news and they’ve recently uploaded a new video introducing the live-action princess.

The princess from the live-action story is wearing a light blue dress and features whimsical pearls and shells in her hair. She shares a few of her prized possessions including a gift from Prince Eric and and the infamous “dinglehopper” from Scuttle.

According to Disney parks tweeter Scott Gustin, the live-action Ariel will be making appearances at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris. It’s not clear whether she’ll be a permanent princess at the parks or not.
