Home / Shop How to save $400+ a year on groceries with five simple clicks Saving money on groceries just got a whole lot easier. By Motherly in partnership with Checkout 51 October 24, 2017 Rectangle Sometimes grocery shopping can feel like the definition of a chore. Not only do you have to remember your grocery list and get you and the little ones to the store (and through checkout without your four-month-old knocking over the gum display), but it seems like each trip gets more and more expensive. And extreme couponing? Yeah, we’ll leave that one to those supermoms on television. Is it too much to ask for a simple-to-use, money-saving solution for groceries that won’t add an additional hour of work to your to-do list? Checkout 51 says “nope!” Checkout 51 is an app that works sort of like coupons in reverse—think of it like getting a rebate for the groceries you are already buying. Here’s how to save over $400 a year on your family’s groceries in five simple clicks. 1. Get the app. Hit up the Google Play or Apple App store and download the Checkout 51 app. You can also check out their website for more information. Easy-peasy, lemon squeezy. (Oh, but seriously, are squeezy packs on sale?) 2. Set up your account. Hello, savings! 3. Search by store or product. Need milk or cheese crackers? Use the search bar to find out which brands are on sale near you. Already heading to your favorite supermarket? Scroll through their weekly deals and select the items you plan to buy to add them to your list. 4. Shop! Even grocery shopping with kids seems a little easier when you know you’re saving money, right? (Pro tip: Be sure to save that receipt!) 5. Take a picture of your receipt. When you get home (or, more likely, when your kid falls asleep on the way home and you’re stuck waiting in the car for him to wake up), take a picture of your receipt with the app to redeem your cash back for the products you purchased. Once your receipt is processed (it usually takes less than 24 hours), Checkout 51 will automatically credit your account with cash, which you can cash out once you hit the $20 minimum. The average Checkout 51 shopper saves about $8 per week. Looking for super easy savings for the stuff you buy anyway? With Checkout 51, it’s in the bag. ?
