By Jamie Orsini January 8, 2021 Gemma Ferrando / Alamy Stock Photo Rectangle If you’re expecting a baby this year, you’re in great company. Emma Stone, Mandy Moore, Kelly Rowland, Emma Roberts and Princess Eugenie will all become moms picking out baby names in 2021. As you get ready to join the cool mom club, you might still be searching for the perfect baby name. We’re here to help, mama. We’re rounding up trending baby names that we think will be a big hit in 2021. For starters, we expect to see plenty of names that have been popular for the last several years. Liam, Noah, Oliver and William have been popular with American parents for several years, just like Olivia, Emma, Ava, and Sophia. When it comes to names that are growing in popularity, we’ve noticed that many of them seem to be inspired by television and media. The name Seven / Sevyn is gaining popularity for boys and girls, according to the Social Security Administration’s rankings. Seinfeld fans will remember George Constanza’s argument that Seven is a great name, thanks to being Mickey Mantle’s jersey number. Archie is also gaining popularity. American parents might be inspired by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to name their son Archie. The name might also be gaining steam with fans of the CW show, Riverdale. The Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina could be responsible for the rising popularity of the names Sabrina, Ambrose, Harvey and Salem. Salem is one of the fastest climbing names for both boys and girls. Keanu is steadily climbing in popularity, too. Maybe parents are hoping their children will grow up to be as seemingly cool and kind as actor Keanu Reeves. British name label manufacturer My Nametags says parents are searching for names inspired after their favorite shows binged during lockdown. The company predicts names like Maeve and Diana, inspired by the Netflix original series Sex Education and The Crown , will be big hits in 2021. The boys name Connell is also growing in popularity, thanks to the BBC drama, ‘Normal People.’ Two names that have recently started gaining steam in America are Kobe and Ruth. We think parents are choosing to honor the lives and legacies of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, both of whom died last year. We expect to see 2021 babies with names inspired by Chadwick Boseman, Sean Connery, Representative John Lewis, and Alex Trebek, too.
