Home / Life TikTok star La’Ron Hines quizzing kids on the Golden Globes might have been the best part of the show "What is the Queen's Gambit about?" he asked a little girl. "Fire trucks," she answered, confidently. By Jamie Orsini March 1, 2021 Rectangle We usually watch awards shows to drool over the gowns and find out if our favorite shows and actors will take home a trophy. We had no idea that our favorite part of the 2021 Golden Globes would instead be a TikTok star interviewing quizzing kids on the awards show. La’Ron Hines took his popular TikTok segment “Are you smarter than a preschooler” and brought it to the Globes, asking children questions about the year’s nominees. Their answers were delightful. “What do people do at awards shows?” Hines asked a little girl. “Sit on the couch and brush their teeth,” she answered. (In the age of virtual award shows where the nominees are mostly at home, she’s not that far off.) TikTok’s La’Ron Quizzes Kids on the Golden Globes – 2021 Golden Globes www.youtube.com “Who is Lin-Manuel Miranda?” Hines asked a young boy. “Captain America,” he answered. “What is Queen’s Gambit about?” he asked a little girl. “Fire trucks,” she confidently answered. Our favorite part about the segment, though, came at the end when Hines asked each child about Chadwick Boseman. They didn’t know The Crown or Hamilton, but every child knew Boseman as the Black Panther. His turn as the Marvel superhero clearly left a lasting impact on even the youngest movie fans. Last night, Boseman was posthumously awarded a Golden Globe for best actor in a drama motion picture for his role in Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. His wife Taylor Simone Ledward accepted the award on his behalf. We suspect that Boseman would have been just as proud of the recognition from the children in that segment as that from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
