There’s finally a premiere date for the final season of ‘The Crown’

The sixth and final season of “The Crown” will premiere later this fall, Netflix revealed on Monday. The final season will also be split into two parts, debuting one month apart.

The first four episodes of Season 6 will be available to stream on Nov. 16, and the final six episodes on Dec. 14.

The first teaser trailer shows Imelda Staunton‘s Queen Elizabeth II walking past images of Claire Foy and Olivia Colman as the two previous versions of the Queen can be heard in the background.

“The Crown” is a highly acclaimed historical drama series created by Peter Morgan, and it first premiered in 2016. The show is designed to portray the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and the events that have shaped the second half of the 20th century in the United Kingdom.

The show delves into the political landscape of the UK during Queen Elizabeth’s reign by covering the tenures of various British Prime Ministers, including Winston Churchill, Harold Wilson, Margaret Thatcher, and others. The series explores the dynamics between the monarchy and the government, which adds to the show’s intrigue for non-British viewers.

Beyond the political aspect, the show also delves into the personal lives and struggles of the royal family members by showing the highs and lows of their relationships, marriages, and the pressures of being in the public eye.

Season six will document the ‘90s and early 2000s, including Princess Diana’s tragic death. Regarding the death of “The People’s Princess,” Variety reports that the production team wanted “to get it right and handle [it] sensitively” for the final season. Viewers will also see Prince William and Kate Middleton’s romance while they were both studying at the University of St. Andrews.

The new season stars Staunton as the Queen, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Ed McVey as Prince William, Luther Ford as Prince Harry, Meg Bellamy as Kate Middleton, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Phillip, Dominic West as Prince Charles and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker-Bowles.
