Pregnant mom gives her husband the full ‘pregnant dad’ experience—and it’s perfect
How'd he do?
Who knew two cantaloupes and a giant watermelon could turn into an extremely accurate representation of pregnant life? Because instead of making a nice fruit salad, one pregnant mama gave her husband the ultimate “pregnant dad” experience by literally strapping three melons to his torso and had him go about his day the way any heavily pregnant person would.
And honestly, it’s content gold.
“How did he do? I felt very seen watching him,” Rini Frey, the mama behind @ownitbabe, captioned her video.
After being securely strapped into all three of his melons, her husband begins his new life as a 9-month pregnant dad by trying to get comfortable on the couch. Now, any non-rookie person who’s carried a baby knows there’s no such thing as getting “comfortable.” Ever.
“The grunts are so relatable,” Frey says.
Watching him try to pick up something he dropped on the floor brings back memories of when I perfected the art of grabbing things with my feet. Because otherwise, if it fell on the floor, well, we never saw it again. It was gone. Forever.
The real pièce de résistance is when the “pregnant dad” tries to not only sit down on the toilet with his melons in tact, but is genuinely confounded on how we wipe ourselves. The whole “front to back” concept totally eludes him, and it’s great.
“Now I know why you have trouble breathing,” her husband notes while desperately trying to get into a good position in bed.
Yeah, tell us about it. You’re basically operating at half of your normal lung capacity when you’re full-term.
Pregnant Dad’s shower-shaving attempt is probably one of the most validating things I’ve ever seen as someone who has been pregnant twice. You’re basically left with two choices at that point: embrace the jungle or ask for help. Neither option is super appealing, tbh. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
This video reminded me of that one episode of “Full House” where Uncle Jesse straps on a fake pregnant belly to empathize with Aunt Becky when she’s pregnant with their twins. He makes all of, oh, maybe 5 minutes before he has to take it off.
So kudos to this “pregnant dad” for being a good sport and also giving the pregnant experience a solid try to support his wife—while giving his audience some validation and laughs!
