Prince Louis’ reaction to losing his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth ll, has been helping his mother, Kate Middleton, process her grief.

On Saturday, August 10, Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were all walking the Windsor grounds, greeting people who had come out to give their condolences to the royal family. The four of them spread out amongst the crowds, shook hands and received bouquets of flowers from many people.

It was there that TikToker, @magsmay1, captured the sweet story Kate Middleton, the newly minted Princess of Wales, shared about her four-year-old.

In the viral video you can hear her say, “My little Louis is just so sweet. He said, ‘Mummy don’t worry, because she is now with great-grandpa.’”

Queen Elizabeth, Prince Louis’ great-grandma, passed away “peacefully” on Thursday, September 8 and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Louis’ great-grandpa, passed away in April 2021. They shared four children: Prince Charles (the new King), Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. They are also grandparents to eight members of the royal family and great-grandparents to 12.

The passing of a grandparent can be a difficult event for children. They might not fully process what’s happening but they can certainly feel a shift in the air. And when they see or feel that their parents are struggling with their emotions sometimes that’s when they’ll say something totally unexpected but, oh, so sweet. I mean, the old adage, “kids say the darndest things,” does have some truth in it!

It’s obvious from this very precious story that there’s so much more to the Prince Louis everyone’s adored since his hilarious antics stole the show at the Queen’s Jubilee event in June.

Later that same day, Prince William shared his own sweet sentiments regarding his grandmother’s passing on social media.

On the joint official account for the Prince and Princess of Wales, the statement begins, “On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth was absolute.

“I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. I have had the benefit of The Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade. My wife has had twenty years of her guidance and support. My three children have got to spend holidays with her and create memories that will last their whole lives.

“She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.”

“My grandmother famously said that grief was the price we pay for love,” he ends.
