Mindy Kaling’s baby girl is here!

It’s a girl for Mindy Kaling! The Mindy Project star welcomed daughter Katherine Kaling on Dec. 15, E! News first reported today.

Though the new mama hasn’t yet spoken out about the news, since she’s famous for withholding details about her personal life. So while we shouldn’t expect to see baby Katherine on Instagram anytime soon, we can bet Kaling is savoring this unique time.

“I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life,” Kaling said about the transition to motherhood during an interview with TODAY in August. “And this is one where I’m like, ‘OK, it’s out of my hands,’ which is kind of a fun feeling.”

She later confirmed to Ellen DeGeneres that she was expecting a girl and that pregnancy was treating her well. Still, she joked she was feeling over the “very, very pregnant” stage.

“I’ve had a pretty great time of it so far. But I think I took a lot for granted before this, now that I’m my current situation—like, sitting,” Kaling said. “Getting up is going to be challenging. Counting on you to hoist me out of this chair.”

Now she’s onto the thrilling next stage: motherhood! And the timing really couldn’t be any better for Kaling, who wrapped up her portrayal of Dr. Mindy Lahiri just last month—and hopefully gleaned something form all those years of playing an obstetrician!

Congratulations to Kaling on the arrival of Katherine. Now the fun begins!
