Home / Holidays ‘Dear Santa’: Little girl’s heartfelt letter is making us All she wants is for Santa to make the world "go back to normal!" By Jamie Orsini December 4, 2020 Rectangle An 8-year-old girl’s letter to Santa is making people around the world reach for the tissues. Kourtney Wood is the daughter of a British healthcare worker. All she wants for Christmas is for the world to “go back to normal!” Cue ugly sobbing. Kourtney’s mom, Samantha Dickens, found the letter to Santa while cleaning. It reads, “Dear Santa, All I would like for at Christmas is the world to go back to normal! I don’t know if you can do that but if you can’t do that, it is OK. I don’t mind if I have nothing, I do have everything. Well, I have everything I need. Thank you “ “I was absolutely gobsmacked,” Dicken told TODAY Parents. “I knew she’d been struggling with lockdown and COVID. But it really hit me when I saw it on paper.” Dicken says that Kourtney used to ask for toys and art supplies from Santa. “Now she just wants her old life,” she explained. “It was just heartbreaking.” Dicken told reporters that when she found the letter, she became emotional, too. “I cried with sadness at how she is feeling due to COVID restrictions but also at how thoughtful and selfless she is,” she said. The letter is really resonating with parents on social media, too. Dicken shared it to Facebook where it’s liked more than 15,000 times. We wish Santa could make the world go back to normal, too. Let’s do our part to keep our families safe this winter by agreeing to wear masks, social distance from each other, and stay home, if possible. We need to make this holiday season as safe as we can so little boys and girls can go back to dreaming about toys and art supplies, instead of the pandemic.
