Ayesha and Steph Curry have added one more little player to their team.

The couple announced the birth of their third child, Canon W. Jack Curry, via Instagram, and the photos are too cute.

“My heart is FULL,” Ayesha, now a mama to three, captioned a photo of her daughters, Riley and Ryan, with their new baby brother.

The announcement came on July 4, but Canon came on July 2, according to his mama’s post.

“He joined us earlier than we thought and we couldn’t be more excited and grateful. Family of 5!” Ayesha wrote.

NBA player and proud dad Steph also posted his own announcement, noting that his little boy’s journey is just beginning.

It wasn’t an easy pregnancy

Ayesha, who suffered from Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) during her pregnancy , has been looking forward to meeting Canon for quite some time, because, as she wrote on her website earlier this year, this pregnancy hasn’t been an easy one.

“This is my third pregnancy and I’ve gotta tell ya, this one has topped the cake when it comes to being tough and exhausting. I️ simply cannot wait to have this baby and feel like ‘myself again’,” she wrote. “The nausea, incessant sickness and exhaustion probably won’t go away. The only silver linings here are that my itty bitty baby is healthy and Princess Kate has suffered from the same condition during her pregnancies. Not feeling super royal though.”

During the first three months of 2018 Ayesha was hospitalized five times, according to an April Instagram post.

Mothers suffering from HG are often hospitalized to treat dehydration and malnutrition caused by the extreme, persistent nausea and vomiting, and, as Ayesha noted on her blog, this made her work as a restaurateur and cookbook author difficult during her first trimester with Canon.

Now that her sweet baby boy has arrived, Ayesha isn’t focused on the hard times she had getting him here, but the good times to come.

Breaking name traditions

The couple’s name pick is a surprising one, as ‘Canon’ is a name given to so few babies in America that it isn’t even on the Social Security Administration’s baby name chart .

That means Canon is what name trend experts call a “distinct name” , and is a total contrast to the names the Currys chose for their daughters.

While Canon doesn’t even make the SSA list, his sister Riley’s name is pretty close to the top — it was the 25th most popular baby name for girls in America in 2017. Canon’s other sister, Ryan, has a name more often given to boys. As a girl’s name, Ryan was in spot 410 on the SSA’s top 1000 baby names for 2017, but as a boy’s name, it sits at 43, with 7,652 baby boys of 2017 bearing the name.

The Currys broke with their own naming tradition in picking Canon’s name (no ‘R’ for him) but by the looks of Ayesha’s Instagram, he’s having no trouble at all fitting in with Riley and Ryan.

Congratulations to the Currys! ?
