By Katrina Nattress April 5, 2021 Rectangle Each body reacts differently to giving birth. Some gain weight. Some lose it. Some have stretch marks. Some don’t. But one thing is universal: your body is forever changed after growing and delivering a tiny human—and that’s something to embrace, not shame. Unfortunately, “snap back” culture is a real thing, and it puts an unfair and unnecessary amount of stress on mamas, who already have enough to worry about. Maren Morris—who welcomed her first child, Hayes Andrew Hurd on March 23, 2020—recently took to Instagram to share a message about the “insurmountable and deeply troublesome” pressure society puts on women to get back to their pre-baby bodies, and it’s something every mom should hear. “Am never saying ‘trying to get my body back’ again,” the country star captioned a pair of photos: one showing off her postpartum body in underwear and another mid-workout. “No one took it, i didn’t lose it like a set of keys. the pressure we put on mothers to ‘snap back’ is insurmountable and deeply troublesome.” data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version="4" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"> Mandy Moore, who’s a new mom herself, shared her support for Morris’ views in the comments. “Snap back culture is insane. Thanks for this…” she wrote. Chris Stapleton’s wife Morgane Stapleton also praised Morris for her strong message. “A million times, yes!” she commented. “You are & always have been gorgeous. Outside & in!” Followers also chimed in with their own stories. “4 kids here ♀️ and I’ve never been more proud of my body! It has created and nurtured four human beings!” one fan wrote. “As a mother of a soon to be 1 year old, I needed this. we mothers are amazing,” another commented. Learning to love your postpartum can be a difficult process, and it’s one every mama goes through. Whenever you’re feeling uncomfortable in your own skin, just remember your body made a freaking human being! It doesn’t get much more magical than that.
