Home / Life This viral video shows how 2020 has felt for moms (and we’re crying) Three computers, a breast pump + a baby. Welcome to working motherhood in 2020. By Jo Yurcaba August 28, 2020 Rectangle Let’s not mince words: the pandemic has been rough for almost all moms. Not only have moms been doing all their usual caretaking duties, many have also become homeschooling teachers while also trying to work from home. A viral video from Kristen Krahl captures just how hectic things have been for moms who work from home—especially those with infants. In the video, which Krahl posted to her page @bemybreastfriend, she’s sitting at a desk in front of at least three computer screens working, but she’s also pumping breast milk and taking care of her 10-week-old daughter, Maeve. It’s set to Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls),” so it perfectly captures the way many moms have been forced to take multitasking to a whole new level. “I was just going about my day juggling work and pumping and feeding her and thought, ‘I think this might be relatable,'” Krahl told Good Morning America. “I might be able to reach a few [women] with this and say, ‘You’re not alone.'” Krahl has been doing her job in the construction industry remotely since March 17, according to GMA. In addition to taking care of Maeve, she also has two 2-year-olds, Molly and Owen, who are surviving triplets. She told GMA balancing work and being a parent is just “instinctual” now. “There are days when I say, ‘How did I commit to my deadline, take care of my daughter, pump 80 ounces and make sure my toddlers are alive and well?'” The video has more than 15,000 likes and hundreds of comments from parents who can relate. One person wrote “Just a snippet in time. But so much important work being done. You are a role model of efficiency and commitment.” Another said, “This reminds me of myself with my kids. We’re so powerful. Nothing compares to a mom.” Others asked questions about Krahl’s breast pumping and storage methods. One said, “I can put my breast milk in 1 big container?” referring to what Krahl did in the video. Krahl said it’s called “the pitcher method” and that she would share more information in her stories. Krahl said she posted the video to show that moms everywhere are juggling a lot right now (but also all the time). She told GMA, “We just didn’t know we could all connect on this level.” The latest Motherly Stories To the mama without a village: I see you Viral & Trending This viral TikTok captures what it’s like to parent through exhaustion and mental health struggles Life Can men really see the mess?
