These popular Pine-Sol cleaning products are being recalled

Pine-Sol is recalling its multi-surface and all purpose cleaners.

The popular household cleaning products brand, whose parent company is Clorox, issued the recall because certain products could contain a potentially harmful bacteria. Here’s what you need to know and what to do if you currently have these products in your home.

What products are affected in the Pine-Sol recall?

The company has stated that the following products are included in the recall:

• Pine-Sol Scented Multi-Surface Cleaners
  • Lavender Clean
  • Sparkling Wave
  • Lemon Fresh scents
• CloroxPro Pine-Sol All Purpose Cleaners
  • Lavender Clean
  • Sparkling Wave
  • Lemon Fresh
  • Orange Energy scents
• Clorox Professional Pine-Sol Lemon Fresh Cleaners

Products manufactured through September 2022 are included in this recall.

If you have the Original Pine-Sol in Pine scent, you’re OK. That product is not included in this recall.

Why are Pine-Sol cleaners being recalled?

The products being impacted might contain bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This is “an environmental organism found widely in soil and water.” It’s mainly harmful for people with weakened immune systems and those with external medical devices who are exposed to it can be at risk for serious infections that might require medical attention.

This bacteria can enter the body if it’s inhaled, through the eyes or if it comes into contact with broken skin. The company says that people with healthy immune systems are usually not at risk.

What to do if you have Pine-Sol cleaners

Not every Pine-Sol product is impacted. To check if the one(s) you currently have under your kitchen sink are a part of the recall, simply look at the date code. What you’re looking for are products with a printed date code beginning with “A4” and followed by a 5-digit number less than 22249.

If you have any of these recalled products the company says to stop using them immediately.

How to get your refund for the Pine-Sol recall 2022

Before you toss out all of your products, be sure to follow these steps in order to get your refund.

1. Take a picture of the 12-digit UPC code—the code under the printed barcode on products.
2. Take a picture of the date code.
