Home / News / Viral & Trending This viral TikTok of a gorilla meeting his keeper’s baby for the first time is the antidote to your doomscrolling @maitekate/TikTok The way the gorilla looks at the baby... By Shannon Vestal Robson July 8, 2022 @maitekate/TikTok Rectangle Keeping up on the news for the past few days weeks months years has been a trying time, to say the least, especially if you’re a parent. That’s why it’s time to tune it all out—for a few moments at least—and watch this heartwarming TikTok of a baby and gorilla meeting for the first time. But it’s not just any baby and any gorilla; TikTok user @maitekate is a zookeeper for this particular gorilla, and she had gone on maternity leave to have her child. Bringing the newborn into the zoo, she shows the gorilla her baby, who appears to be bewildered, then fascinated, then charmed. You can almost see the gorilla’s emotional journey as he seems to be a little resistant to meeting the baby (maybe wondering where his beloved zookeeper has been all this time?!), then giving way as he gets a better look at the child and registers what this means. (A recent study, by the way, confirms that gorillas may be a lot smarter than we thought). @maitekate The sweetest boy meeting my sweet baby for the first time #newborn #baby #momlife #workingmom #gorilla #zookeeper #maternityleave #fyp ♬ Send Me on My Way – Guy Meets Girl Bringing new meaning to the term supportive coworkers, @maitekate continues to bring in her baby to introduce her to multiple gorillas, who have various charming reactions to the little one. Scrolling through the new mama and veteran zookeeper’s account gives you a glimpse inside both worlds.
