My oldest is neurodiverse. My youngest neurotypical. They both need me in different ways.

Our child is not just one of us. He is both of us. He is both our cultures. And as a family, we are both cultures together.

I started focusing on the 'why.'

I'm sure I will forever remember this summer, but not for the reasons I wanted to.

Instead, set up conditions so your child can learn.

I became a more confident mom in the second year of motherhood

My daughter got her first period and it was emotional for me.

My girls will never know my father. They'll never hear him make up the words to "I Feel Pretty." They'll never catch him sneaking thirds of Blue Bell's pralines and cream ice cream late at night. He'll never send them off to school quoting the Village Schoolmaster by Oliver Goldsmith... "And still they gazed, and still the wonder grew that one small head could carry all he knew."

The biggest takeaway of these last several weeks is the importance of making intentional choices—at work and at home.

"My parents did not stay 6 feet apart. "

I'm going to say what usually goes unsaid about racism.

They perfectly capture Black motherhood.

"In her expression, I see the Black mothers who are unseen, and rendered helpless in this fury against their babies," Kaphar writes in a piece accompanying his painting.

Markle recalls living through 1992 in LA as a biracial child.

Seeing my son dressed as a police officer triggered so many emotions.

I so desperately need you to have conversations with your children about racism.
