Here are three areas to focus on, mama.

But as we reach this place where things are chaotically calm, I realize that while I could make space for those things (and I do in some respects), that I choose my children. With no self-judgment and no second guesses and no comparing myself to other women.

If life goes according to plan, I'll have one more when I'm 29 and, by 30, my husband and I will be selling car seats, hitting the tail end of diapers and settling into life as a minivan family.

What I want to tell you most about having a husband who is gone a lot is this: It is harder on him than it is on me.

You are always with me. In those times when I lose my cool under frustration, like yesterday when Everett was whining and simultaneously the dog threw up all over the carpet, I can feel you witnessing it all. I can feel you helping me, calming me or laughing at the chaos and confusion you used to know so well.

Your experience with your precious baby will be one that, at times, can feel like it is breaking you into a million pieces–but I promise that feeling is just the start of your transformation into a stronger, wiser, humbler version of yourself.

If you're in a tough season right now, please let this be my reminder to you: You will catch a break. You will figure it out. You will find a way.

He will sleep through the night eventually and I have that to look forward to, but right now I will enjoy his midnight snuggles.

I am the mother I am because of the collective group of women I have in my life.

Thank you for letting me text you 10 messages in a row detailing what my kiddo is melting down over. Multiple times. At various points on various days.

I choose you no matter what life throws at us.

These are the days, decades from now, that I’ll remember. These are the days that I no longer want to wish away.

They are like newborns, but with *deluxe features.*

I want you to always know—there is just nothing like my mama.

Teamwork makes the dream work, as they say.

We have a strength inside of ourselves that is unique to mothers.

You don’t realize it, but trust me, you are doing amazing.

Because of my daughter, I finally woke up. Because of her, I never want to fall asleep again.

My daughter is growing right before my eyes, and I don’t want to be teaching her that matching clothes is what life is about.
