Despite my wish for a personal life, my children have always remained my number one priority, and I refuse to loosen my grip on that, to compromise their emotional security so I can meet my own (or someone else's) selfish needs.
My motto in those circumstances, if there is any discomfort, which there was, became: "If anyone is going to be uncomfortable in the room let it be me, not my children or other family members."
Everything from the pattern of our wedding china to the curtains in my daughter's nursery felt like a reflection of our family and myself as a wife and mother.
I know some days you will question your sanity, this life, and how you got here. But please know that even in your darkest hour, you are so bright and such an incredible human and mama.
