It's not simply overwhelming that parenting standards have risen dramatically while support systems have vanished, it's an unfair setup that has mothers thinking their personal inadequacies are to blame for what is actually the fault of a broken system and distortions of reality.
When my daughter arrived and my world flipped upside down overnight I was totally knocked out of breath. To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. And I continue to be on a daily basis.
"I always want to be the people pleaser in the family and make sure everyone knows how much I care about them—but in doing so I wasn't taking care of myself," shares Anstead.
"I still have stitches and I'm still bleeding, an obvious sign that I have not yet recovered from delivering my baby, even six weeks later," shares Skrysak.
