When her son was about 6 months old, he struggled to sleep for more than an hour and a half at a time. Like so many of us in the first months of parenthood, she was exhausted and desperate for a solution,

“One night we placed him under a heavy throw blanket while sitting on the couch,” she says. “I noticed as soon as the weight was on his body, he instantly calmed down. A lightbulb went off in my head: he needs a weighted blanket!”

With the help of her mother-in-law, she created a prototype. The first night her son used it, he slept for 12 hours. After working with pediatricians, NICU nurses and certified sleep consultants on a series of refinements that resulted in a sleep-safe sack and testing rigorously to ensure it exceeded all U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Standards, she competed on Shark Tank and secured a $100k investment.
