Home / Holidays / The Holidays Last-minute shoppers: Amazon’s offering free same-day shipping for the holidays Snapwire Amazon to the rescue... again. By Kaitlyn Russell December 15, 2017 Snapwire Rectangle Whether you’re a last-minute shopper, had a mom-brain moment or *just* realized Santa forgot something, you’re in luck: Amazon is expanding services through the holidays to offer same-day delivery and one-day shipping to existing Amazon Prime members—for free. How’s that for a holiday miracle?! From now until 11:59 p.m. on Christmas Eve, parents can purchase last-minute gifts that can still go under the tree alongside Santa’s offerings. Better yet, Prime Now will be available for two-hour delivery as long as orders are placed before 9:00 p.m. on December 24. This means you can order eggnog or an evergreen-scented candle for the final touch to your holiday get-together without making a stop at the grocery store More than 8,000 cities and towns qualify for the services. To see if you’re in luck, visit Amazon and type in your zip code. Then, just make sure your order is at least $35 and double-check the products qualify for Prime. If you’re not a Prime member, don’t fret: You can get access to the same offer for $8.99 per order and $0.99 per additional item—a small price to pay to save you the stress of running out the night before Christmas. Don’t feel guilty if you have to take advantage of this program. Amazon actually celebrates it! “In 2016, the last Prime Free Same-Day order from Amazon.com delivered in time for Christmas was ordered at 10:23 a.m. on Christmas Eve,” says Greg Greeley, Vice President of Amazon Prime. “The order included Venum Contender Boxing Gloves, and was delivered to a Prime member in Richmond, Virginia, at 2:42 p.m.—the very same day, for free.” Amazon still has some of the best gifts for kids this holiday season and something for everyone on your list, such as in-laws and your bestie. Plus, Amazon has tons of gift card options available, so you don’t have to run out to grab them at store. But, if you are making a final grocery run, Amazon’s recent partnership with Whole Foods Markets means you can pick up some Amazon products along with that holiday ham.
