Home / News / Celebrity News Chrissy Teigen + John Legend are helping Luna adjust to her baby brother in the best way "Guess we're really doing this kid thing!" Teigen says. By Heather Marcoux June 5, 2018 Rectangle Going from one to two kids isn’t easy. It’s a major life change, not just for mom and dad, but for little ones who aren’t used to sharing their parents’ attention, too. That’s what cookbook author/prolific tweeter Chrissy Teigen is going through right now. She welcomed baby Miles nearly three weeks ago with husband John Legend, and now that she’s out of that fresh postpartum period (and the mesh hospital panties that go with it) the family is starting to settle into a bit of a routine. “Guess we’re really doing this kid thing!” Teigen captioned a pic of her playing with Luna in a sandbox while wearing teeny-tiny Miles in a baby wrap. data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version=”4″ style=” background:#FFF; border:0;border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15);margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% – 2px);width:calc(100% – 2px);”> Teigen and Legend recognize that the routine is different not just for them, but for 2-year-old Luna, too. “[Luna’s] used to having us to herself,” Legend told People. “I think she’s just starting to realize though that he might be competition. So in some ways it’s good because she’s stepping her game up. She’s being more loving, she’s singing louder, and dancing harder. She’s making sure we don’t stop paying attention to her.” Before Miles was born Teigen said she was worried about how Luna would take to him and whether she would be angry or jealous about the new baby, but it seems Luna is adjusting well to life as a sibling. data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version=”4″ style=” background:#FFF; border:0;border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15);margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% – 2px);width:calc(100% – 2px);”> Experts say Teigen and Legend should respond to Luna’s pleas for attention with exactly that, especially in moments where she’s not looking at Miles with love, but as competition. “Be ready to acknowledge your older child’s feelings and change of heart with comforting support and time alone with you,” social psychologist Susan Newman, Ph.D., previously told Motherly. As Legend says, Luna is stepping up her game when it comes to seeking attention, but it’s clear her parents are stepping up their game, too. Like Teigen says, they’re really doing this kid thing!
