By Christina Marfice January 28, 2024 @paisley.rileyy/TikTok Rectangle Claw clips have been seriously on trend for a while now — and that doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. No complaints here — we love being able to throw our hair (even when it’s been a few days since it was washed) into a cute claw clip and be on our way, looking effortlessly put-together, in a fun, messy sort of way. But if you get ready and then get right behind the wheel of your car, you might want to think twice about the claw clip. A viral TikTok video is warning people of the dangers of wearing them in vehicles, and if you’re a claw clip girly, you’re going to want to see this. I was like, ‘What, did you get some kind of buy one, get 68 free BOGO sale?'” We would totally shop that sale, TBH. But Crimmins continued, “She was like, ‘No, whenever I get in the car, I take these out and I throw them. I throw them before I start driving.'” If you’re like us and wondering why, don’t worry — Crimmins elaborated: “Because she’s had to pull these out of so many women’s skulls in the emergency room. So now that I know that information, you have to know it, too, ’cause I can’t be alone in this.” So, before we carry on, let’s just note that plastic claw clips aren’t going to embed themselves in anyone’s skull without breaking. Skulls are made of really hard, thick bone. There is no plastic on Earth that’s embedding itself in that. That said, it’s still a good idea to take out your claw clip in the car, because they sure can go through your skin. @paisley.rileyyy Replying to @_darcywilliams #greenscreenvideo #greenscreen #fyp #dumbwaystodye #hairclip #shein #mudding ♬ Dumb Ways to Die – Tangerine Kitty Related: A parent’s guide to car seat safety: Tips, rules & product picks There have been plenty of cases of car accidents where claw clips caused head wounds that required stitches or staples. It’s not a life-threatening injury, necessarily, but it’s still not something you want to happen. And if preventing it is as easy as taking out the clip before driving, well, we can all handle that.
