This viral video of a Ukrainian girl singing ‘Let It Go’ from a bomb shelter will move you to tears

A young Ukrainian girl is making headlines for singing “Let It Go,” the hit song from Disney’s Frozen, from the confines of a bomb shelter amid the Russian invasion. It’s a heartbreaking reminder that war affects everyone—even the very, very young.

A woman in the bomb shelter, Marta Smekhova, shared the footage on her Facebook account over the weekend, and the video quickly went viral. Smekhova said she couldn’t simply “pass by in silence” as the little girl, called Amelia, sang the song in her beautiful voice.

“Even men couldn’t hold back tears,” she wrote.

And because the entire world is watching the events unfolding in Ukraine with open eyes and heavy hearts, the viral clip even made its way to the OG Elsa, Idina Menzel.

“We see you,” she wrote on Twitter. “We really, really see you.” She accompanied her tweet with blue and yellow hearts, the colors of Ukraine’s flag.

This is just the latest gut-wrenching reminder that even children and babies are collateral damage in warfare. Over the weekend, a photo featuring several strollers lined up at a Polish train station went viral after it became clear Polish mothers were donating them to Ukrainian refugees with babies and toddlers.

The vast majority of Ukrainian refugees are women and children, as Ukraine is encouraging all men to join the fight against Russia. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are banned from leaving the country, per the LA Times. Reports estimate that between 80,000-100,000 people have been crossing the 300-mile border between Ukraine and Poland every day since the invasion.

Though nothing on earth could take away from the terror, violence, and heartache of what all Ukrainians are feeling right now, this hauntingly beautiful video is a reminder that music is a universal language. It has the power to calm, heal, distract, and bring people together.
