It’s been a long time since fast food restaurants gave out quality prizes in their kids’ meals—when millennials were kids, we had SO many options for toys that actually got played with and lasted. Well, the McDonalds Happy Meal decided to up the ante this year, because Squishmallows are officially going to be the toy of choice in those 6-piece nugget meals everywhere!

The company that creates the beloved, uber-popular Squishmallows, Jazwares, announced the collab with McDonald’s that will surely bring a smile to your kiddos’ faces this summer.

“Happy Meals have featured so many iconic brands throughout the years, and this is a tremendous milestone for Squishmallows as we join forces with McDonald’s, one of the world’s most trusted and recognized brands. In partnering with McDonald’s we are able to bring fans a 360-degree Squishmallows experience that includes exclusive digital playlists and special-edition Squishmallows that will create one of the most elevated Happy Meal programs to date,” says Gerhard Runken, senior vice president of brand and marketing at Jazwares, in a statement.

According to the release, the McDonald’s Squishmallows will include “exclusive and seasonal plush designs.” While each participating McDonald’s location will have 10-12 versions of Squishmallows, it is unknown at this time when the Happy Meals will officially debut. But some of the Squishmallows characters look pretty adorable: a headphone-wearing pineapple, a fanny-pack-loving cat, and a frog with a disco-ball tummy.

Another fun element to the Squishmallow Happy Meal Experience is that kids will be able to scan a QR code on the toy packaging to access the custom music playlists from Universal Music Group based on each Squishmallow’s unique personality.

“Adding exclusive music playlists to our toys is a first for Happy Meal, and we are extremely proud to collaborate with Jazwares’ Squishmallows, the No. 1 plush brand worldwide, and Universal Music Group on this initiative,” says Jennifer DelVecchio, senior director, global campaigns and alliances for McDonald’s. 

Currently, McDonald’s Happy Meal toys are still featuring characters from “The Little Mermaid,” and will continue to do so until mid-June. Perhaps the Squishmallows will appear later this summer? Only time (and our wallets) will tell.
