Home / News / Viral & Trending This mother/daughter wedding dance is a gut-punch of emotion @oliviarobinson16/TikTok Move over father/daughter dances, mother/daughter dances have arrived By Abi Berwager Schreier October 20, 2023 @oliviarobinson16/TikTok Rectangle Everyone’s heard of and expects a father/daughter dance at a traditional wedding, but this Louisville bride went rogue and did something unconventional. Olivia Robinson instead had a mother/daughter dance at her wedding. Robinson posted on her TikTok a video of a dance she shared with her mama to Taylor Swift’s Never Grow Up, and it has everyone right in their feels. It seems like at traditional weddings, Dad gets all the glory. He gets to walk the bride down the aisle, and then he gets to do the father/daughter dance. The bride’s mom always seems to get the short end of the stick. But not for Robinson. While many commenters said they were “crying in mommy issues,” most people said they never thought of this idea and they’re definitely going to do this with their moms. There were even some former brides who said they regretted eloping because it would’ve been nice to share this special moment with their mom. One commenter was a mom whose daughter did this with her at her daughter’s wedding and said how it was so special to her. I love her beyond measure.” Swift’s Never Grow Up makes people cry on its own, but add this sweet mother/daughter dance, and there will be no dry eyes in the house. Let’s hear it for the mamas, and hope that this video makes a dance with mom a norm for future weddings. We definitely deserve it after all we do for our children.
