Traveling can be stressful enough on its own, but throw kids into the mix—and pumping—and you’ve got yourself a journey you’re going to embark on when you leave for the airport that day. And if you’re flying solo? Forget about it.

Mamas definitely need support while traveling, and thankfully, the Pittsburgh airport understood the assignment and has created a “mom room” for travelers. But it was the traveling moms who came through this airport that made this room extra special.

Influencer and new mom Jenna Dillulio was trying to prevent her daughter from having a fear of flying like she does, and she took her on a solo trip. She couldn’t believe what she saw all over the room once she located it.

@jennadillulio Seriously bawled when i walked in this room. Women are amazing! #nursingmom #nursingmama #nursingroom #nursingwhiletraveling #fyp ♬ Bigger Than The Whole Sky – Taylor Swift

It wasn’t just the fact that the airport had a “mother’s lounge” that brought this mom traveling solo to tears, but there were post-its all over the wall of the room with encouragement for moms written on there. She posted a video on her TikTok to share the experience with her followers.

Some notes said, “You got this!” and “It’s not so bad!” And others said incredibly emotional things like, “You are your baby’s first love.”

Thankfully, Pittsburgh shouldn’t be the only airport to include a mom lounge in the building. In 2021, the Friendly Airports for Mothers (FAM) Act required all large and medium hub airports to provide a private, non-bathroom lactation space in each terminal building.

So if you’re traveling and need a place to pump or if you’re looking for somewhere calm and quiet to breastfeed, look for these spaces at the airport you’re visiting. Hopefully there will be post-it notes in there for you to read as well.
