Proud parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released the first photo of their sweet baby girl in the official family Christmas card. The card, released on behalf of the organization Team Rubicon, shows the whole family—Meghan, Harry, Archie, and baby Lili. The photo was taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirski at the family’s home in California earlier this summer. “This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world,” Harry and Meghan said in a statement released by their Archewell Foundation team. “Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa,’ and Lili made us a family.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Alexi Lubomirski (@alexilubomirski) “As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families — from those being relocated from Afghanistan, to American families in need of paid parental leave,” the couple said before listing some of the charities they’ve donated to, including Team Rubicon, Human First Coalition, Humanity Crew, Paid Leave For All.” Last summer, Meghan penned an essay for The New York Times where she revealed she had sufffered a miscarriage—and knew the exact moment it was happening. “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right,” she writes. “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.” She shared how she and Harry grieved over their loss. “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.” Lubomirski shared the family’s new holiday photo on his Instagram page. “To be able to continue the story of this family whom I first photographed as an engaged couple, then on the day of their wedding, as a married couple and now seeing their love manifest into two beautiful children, has been a delightful honour,” he wrote alongside the photo. “To be trusted by your subjects enough, to open themselves up and have their connection documented and translated into an image, is one of the greatest gifts a photographer can have. This day with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was one such joyous experience, and one that I feel extremely privileged to have been invited to capture.” We love to see the Sussex family living their best California life, especially after the world finally got to hear Meghan and Harry’s story of their departure from the British royal family earlier this year.
