Child safety advocate talks about ‘fan club’ accounts for kids

In the social media age, parasocial relationships are increasingly common. These are the one-sided relationships that people form with celebrities or online personas, often assigning friendship-like qualities to relationships with people they’ve never met (and likely never will). Now, a TikToker named Sarah, who posts child safety advocacy content as @mom.uncharted, is going viral for talking about another side of this phenomenon: fan accounts for children.

“Hot tip,” she says in her new video. “Don’t make social media accounts that are ‘fan clubs’ of children that aren’t your own and are also not looking to be in the spotlight. Someone sent me this on X.”

She then changes her background to a green screen, where she shows screenshots of what was sent to her: An X (formerly Twitter) account someone created to be a “Fan Club” account for Wyatt Kelce, the 4-year-old daughter of Jason and Kylie Kelce. It includes pictures of Wyatt (and the Kelces’ other kids) and, scarily, posts about when the toddler has made public appearances. There’s even a strange demand for the Kelce family to publicly respond to the account and Wyatt’s fans.

If you don’t know, Jason Kelce is an NFL player and the brother of Travis Kelce, who is dating Taylor Swift. By their association to Swift, the entire family has reached a level of fame they’ve never experienced before, despite successful professional football careers, a podcast, and a TV show.

“It is a fan club for Kylie and Jason Kelce’s daughter, who is a child — maybe even a toddler — I don’t know. It’s completely bizarre to me,” Sarah continues. “I’ve seen this done for the children of influencers and family vloggers. It’s actually really common, though just as creepy. But, like, the Kelces don’t seem like they want to be putting their children out in this capacity. A quick Google search led to these quotes.”

She then shares snippets from interviews the Kelces have done since rocketing to fame in the last year: “Kylie Kelce saying it’s ‘Not my cup of tea’ to be in the spotlight, and she’s been more hesitant to accept that her children can be recognized by complete strangers, something she told her husband she ‘didn’t really sign up for.'”

It really doesn’t get any clearer than that. We can’t imagine how Kylie would respond to this creepy X account about her daughter.

“Give the family their privacy,” Sarah ends her video. “They clearly want it.”
