Having a themed birthday party is a canon event in almost everyone’s childhood, right? We can all fondly recall at least one birthday when we had the party of our dreams based solely on whatever hyper-fixation we were loving at the time. Well, this woman on TikTok might have us all beat because her mom accidentally hired a Barbie stripper to perform at her fifth birthday party.

Oops!

Julia Duggan, who is now 32 (but still very much into Barbie, as we all should be right now) hilariously recalls the time her mom hired an adult entertainer for her child’s birthday party. In the now-viral TikTok video, she explains it was the ’90s, and our parents had no other choice but to hire any sort of entertainment—of the child or adult variation—from the phonebook.

“The woman shows up and she’s a stripper and I love her,” Duggan explains in the clip. “She played along. She did not take off her clothes. I followed her around, thrilled that Barbie came to my birthday party, and all of the parents there had a really good laugh.”

The “Barbie” showed up at Duggan’s house with gorgeous, long blonde locks, a bikini top, and a Hawaiian-esque grass skirt. What little girl wouldn’t be immediately in awe?! It’s your very own giant Barbie doll, at your service for your birthday!

“I just remember holding her hand and walking around,” Duggan says. “I was starstruck.”

When Duggan was in high school, her mom told her the truth about her Barbie birthday.

“We were looking at old photos before we moved, and I was like, ‘Uh, what kind of Barbie did you hire for my birthday party? Interesting choice,’” she says. “And my mom was like, ‘Oh, it’s an interesting story.’”

Interesting indeed! You know, this reminds me of the time my parents hired “Barney” for my little sister’s party. I was older (and not blind) so I was obviously aware that Barney the Dinosaur was really Local Susan, Who Moonlights As Barney, Clowns And Other Children’s Characters. My two-year-old sister was delighted, however, and that’s all that matters. My parents got their money’s worth out of dear ol’ Susan.

The comments section of Duggan’s video is also *chef’s kiss.*

“Probably one of the best parties she’s been to! Free cake and no drunks!”

“I bet she still talks about that day!”

“My mom accidentally ordered the spice channel in place of a spice girls concert on pay per view once!”

“I think this might have happen a lot from Yellow Page finds…my parents found a strip club and accidentally took us kids there!”

If the internet “does its thing” and finds this Barbie birthday woman all these years later for a part two, we’ll keep you posted.
