By Abi Berwager Schreier October 20, 2023 CPSC Rectangle Since 1942, Thomas the Train and his friends have been an integral part of many childhoods. What started as a toy tank engine named Thomas became a published story, and the rest is history. Now parents can find Thomas the Train toys everywhere—perhaps even in their childhood home’s attics from when they were children. However, if you’ve recently purchased this particular Thomas the Train Engine toy, you need to return it for a refund. On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Fisher-Price has recalled more than 20,000 of its Thomas & Friends toy trains. The recall is due to potential magnet ingestion as well as choking hazards. The two models are the “Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Troublesome Truck & Crates” and the “Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Troublesome Truck & Paint.” Related: 10 adorable gifts for baby’s first holiday season The train toys can be linked together by magnets that are located at the front and back of each train car, and the top pieces can pop out. According to the CPSC, “The small plastic piece containing a high-powered magnet that connects one train to another can detach or become loose, posing choking and magnet ingestion hazards.” About 21,000 products—as well as about 400 in Canada—were sold. Check your playrooms and toy boxes now to see if you own one of these recalled toys and if you have them, go to www.service.mattel.com and click on “Recalls & Safety Alerts” for instructions on how to receive a pre-paid return label via email from Fisher-Price.
