Home / News KinderFarms is recalling all KinderMed Pain & Fever products The company is voluntarily recalling the medicine due to “acetaminophen instability”. By Jessica D’Argenio Waller, MS, CNS, LDN November 17, 2023 Rectangle Now’s a good time to check your medicine cabinets: KinderFarms has initiated a voluntary recall of its pediatric pain and fever relief medications, KinderMed Infants’ Pain & Fever and KinderMed Kids’ Pain & Fever oral suspensions. This decision, announced today by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), comes as a precautionary response to concerns over acetaminophen instability. Acetaminophen is the key active ingredient in these medications. The recall affects all lots of the following products: KinderMed Infants’ Pain & Fever: Packaged in 2 fluid ounce (59 mL) bottles with the UPC: 850001805698, containing 160 mg of Acetaminophen per 5 mL. KinderMed Kids’ Pain & Fever: Available in 4 fluid ounce (118 mL) bottles, UPC: 850001805728, also with 160 mg of Acetaminophen per 5 mL. The products in question have been widely distributed across the country in drugstores, pharmacies, supermarkets, direct delivery services, national retailers, and e-commerce sites. Related: Children’s Advil recall: What parents need to know The recall was prompted by ongoing testing that indicated some product batches did not meet the required specifications, potentially posing health risks to consumers. While there have been no reported serious adverse events related to these products to date, the instability of acetaminophen can lead to acute adverse health effects, such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or jaundice, especially at higher doses. KinderFarms has taken this step out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of kids who might use the medication for fever or pain relief. The company, in collaboration with a U.S.-based over-the-counter pharmaceutical manufacturer with over three decades of experience, is committed to maintaining the highest quality standards in its products.
