Since it was publicly announced that Bruce Willis is suffering from dementia, his family has mostly retreated from the public eye. But on Monday, his 35-year-old daughter, Rumer Willis, shared a rare glimpse into her personal life — as well as some of the struggles of living with a loved one with dementia — in a candid Instagram post.

Rumer posted a throwback picture of herself as a baby in her father’s arms. In the caption she wrote, “Really missing my papa today. 🥲.”

Rumer’s sister, Tallulah Willis, the youngest child that Bruce shares with his ex-wife, Demi Moore, also shared the post to her Instagram story.

Just a few days earlier, Tallulah shared her own tribute to Bruce on her account. She shared a series of throwback photos of the actor, including a picture of her sitting next to him in an armchair while he smiles widely, and a more recent shot of them walking together outside, with Tallulah wearing a Die Hard sweatshirt in a nod to Bruce’s 1998 blockbuster.

“Damn, these photos are hitting tonight. Youre my whole damn heart and Im so proud to be your Tallulah Belle Bruce Willis. #babybruce #TBBW,” she wrote in the caption.

In February, Bruce’s family publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). In a group statement they released at the time, they wrote, “Bruce has always found joy in life — and has helped everyone he knows to do the same.”

“It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time,” they continued. “Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible.”
