By Heather Marcoux November 28, 2018 Getty Images Rectangle In the age of social media, we are used to seeing celebrity birth announcements in our Instagram feeds, complete with baby’s birth date and name, but new mom Rachel McAdams has never been a fan of social media and in her first interview since welcoming her son in the spring, she explained why she’s choosing not to share his birth date or name with the world. “I want to keep his life private, even if mine isn’t,” 40-year-old McAdams told The Sunday Times U.K. The interview is her first public confirmation of her motherhood for McAdams, and she says she’s totally loving it. “But I’m having more fun being a mum than I’ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. Even the tough days — there’s something delightful about them.” She reportedly arrived for her chat with the Times in a grey shirt, baggy pants and sneakers, telling interviewer Helena de Bertodano, “I don’t even know what I’m wearing today. The shoes are held together with glue. Isn’t that sad? I need to get a life.” “I have clothes on and that’s a good thing,” McAdams said (and new mamas everywhere are nodding in agreement). It’s not always easy to be glamorous when you’re a new parent, but McAdams is totally cool with it, explaining that motherhood is “the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, hands down.” She told de Bertodano, “[Some people say] your life is not your own anymore. But I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person.” Now, she and boyfriend, screenwriter Jamie Linden, are focused completely on their son. “We never turn on the television when he’s around,” she explained. “Pots and pans are good babysitters.” Linden and McAdams may need to stock up on cookware, as it seems their son won’t be the only one banging away in the kitchen for long. When asked if she’s thinking about having more kids, McAdams explained: “I think there is definitely room for more.” Related Stories News Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell welcome baby via surrogacy—and shut down critics News Katy Perry keeps an unusual pregnancy keepsake next to iconic prop from fiancé Orlando Bloom’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ Postpartum Scarlett Johansson reflects on postpartum life: ‘I was staring into the abyss like, what have I done?’ Tags: Celebrity moms, Motherhood, Positive parenting Related articles Celebrity News Gisele Bündchen is pregnant with her third child October 28, 2024 News Megan Fox is pregnant!
