If you’ve been clamoring to go back to Monterey ever since that big cliffhanger at the end of Big Little Lies season two, you’re officially in luck, because Nicole Kidman just revealed that a third season is in the works. The actress, who also serves as an executive producer on the hit HBO drama series, spilled the news during a Q&A session at the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Florida on Nov. 17.

Fans reportedly captured Kidman’s surprise confession, with People reporting she told the crowd: “I loved Big Little Lies because it sort of came along at a time in my life when I had my children, and I was thinking I was going to retire, and then this situation came along, where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show. And then all of you watched it and made it a massive success.”

“And we will be bringing you a third one, just FYI,” she quipped.

The limited series’ second season concluded in 2019, and future seasons seemed to remain in limbo, though fans were hoping for Kidman, Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley to come back together on the small screen. In January 2020, Kidman noted that the star-studded cast was too busy to link back up, telling Deadline, “Everyone’s working. Hopefully we can collide again at one point.”

In 2021, the show’s director Jean-Marc Vallée died suddenly from a fatal cardiac arrhythmia, and it seemed like a return was even less likely. A fan on TikTok asked Kravitz if there were plans for future seasons, with the actress replying: “We talked about doing a season three a lot and, unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée, our incredible director, passed away this last year and I just can’t imagine going on without him. He really was the visionary for that show. So, unfortunately, it’s done.”
