Is this the year that Natalie Portman wins another Oscar? The actress is already getting awards buzz for her role in May December, and it’s bringing back memories from 2011, when she won the Academy Award for her role in Black Swan. At the time, she was pregnant with her first child — but only four months pregnant, she clarified in a new interview with People magazine.
“I was four months pregnant, but everyone was like, ‘You must be ready to pop.’ And I was like, ‘I’ve got five months to go! I’m just huge,'” the actress said, laughing.

42-year-old Portman is now a mom of two, 12-year-old Aleph and 6-year-old Amalia. In the interview, she also talked about getting ready for the red carpet while expecting, which is, unsurprisingly, somewhat of a challenge.
“It made it all the more precarious to be wearing heels and going upstairs,” she said. “I was just like, ‘Don’t fall, don’t fall, don’t fall.’ That was all I was thinking about.”
Still, that night in 2011 stands out as a treasured memory for her.
“It’s amazing when you get to do something you love, and then people love it,” she said.
In May December, Portman stars alongside fellow Oscar-winner Julianne Moore, someone she said she had wanted to work with for some time.
“I’ve admired her for so long,” she said. “She’s been one of my favorite actresses. We work in a very similar way. We love our kids in a similar way. It was just very fun right away.”
May December is a dark comedy inspired by the Mary Kay Letourneau. Portman plays an actress researching a part in a film where she portrays a woman (Moore) who has a scandalous relationship with a 13-year-old boy whom she later marries. You can currently stream May December on Netflix.
