In an exclusive interview with British Vogue, Naomi Campbell is opening up about her life as a first-time mama. She also posed with her nine-month-old daughter for the cover shot, and it’s one of the most gorgeous photos ever.

Last May, the supermodel announced that she had welcomed her first baby (she’s made the choice to keep her baby girl’s name private). Naomi Campbell tells British Vogue that not many people knew she was going to become a mom.

“She wasn’t adopted – she’s my child,” she says. “I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her. But she is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”

In the cover photo, Campbell is seen cradling her beautiful bundle of joy—and it’s just the sweetest.

She says she always knew she wanted to become a mother, which is exactly what she did at the age of 50.

She calls motherhood, “the biggest joy I could ever imagine. I’m lucky to have her and I know that.” She even says she’s open to the idea of having more children in the future.

“I’m reliving nursery rhymes, playing and discovering how many great new toys there are out there in the world! And dolls! Things I couldn’t even dream of,” she explained, saying that she feels like a “kid again” as she navigates motherhood.

Truth be told, that’s one of the best parts of parenthood, isn’t it? Being able to re-live your own childhood in some ways while also enjoying all the new, fun things that exist to enhance your own child’s life. Getting to play with toys and books and puzzles and stickers again? It can be so much fun.

In the interview, Naomi Campbell is asked what her biggest surprise has been as a mom, and she answers in a way so many fellow mamas can relate to: “My daughter comes first,” she says. “Everything I do, I do for her—that’s it. It’s so completely selfless, isn’t it?”
