One of the things we know to be true about postpartum is that it can affect anyone—including celebrities. In a new interview with British Vogue about her experiences being a young mom, Kylie Jenner got candid about her battles against postpartum depression that lasted around a year after she gave birth to both of her children, 6-year-old daughter Stormi and 2-year-old son Aire, whom she shares with her ex, Travis Scott.

““I’m going to be 27, and I’m finally feeling like myself again,” Jenner said. “And [looking back] I think, being pregnant, I wore sweatpants every day, I didn’t have time to figure out even some of the little things in my life, and then postpartum lasted a year. Mentally, it’s really hard. Hormonally, it’s really hard.”

Jenner said that what she calls the “baby blues” affected her even more after she gave birth to her son in 2022.

“It hit me differently both times,” she explained. “Probably with my son it was major baby blues, so I was just so emotional over things that I probably wouldn’t be that emotional about [typically].” She added that soon after Aire was born, she would be, “On the phone with my mom all day hysterically crying, saying, ‘I can’t figure out his name.'”

Jenner continued, “Now my advice to all my friends having children is pick the name before, because when the hormones hit you can’t make decisions. You can’t.”

In one heartbreaking moment, Jenner candidly revealed that her perceived inability to decide things like her son’s name made her feel like she was a “failure.”

“When I met him, he was just the most beautiful thing to me and I couldn’t believe just how perfect he was,” she said. “I felt like such a failure that I couldn’t name him. He deserved so much more than that. It just really triggered me.”

When Aire was born in February of 2022, Jenner and Scott initially announced that his name was Wolf Jacques. Later, in March, she shared on Instagram that his name “isn’t Wolf anymore.”

“We just really didn’t feel like it was him. Just wanted to share because I keep seeing Wolf everywhere,” Jenner wrote at the time.

In her Vogue interview, she revealed that she tried out more names before settling on Aire.

“My son’s name was actually Knight for a long time,” she said, adding that Stormi was a big fan of that choice. “My daughter, still to this day, is like, ‘Do you remember when Aire’s name was Knight?’ And I’m like, ‘No.’ And she’s like, ‘That was so funny, Mom. I like Knight better.’ And I’m like: ‘You know what, we are not doing this again.'”
