Kim Kardashian faces criticism for ‘uncomfy’ TikTok she shared with North West

In the latest video posted to their joint TikTok account, Kim Kardashian and her 9-year-old daughter, North West, lip sync to one of Kanye West’s biggest hits—with North looking exactly like her dad thanks to some special-effects makeup.

The video shows Kim and North lip-syncing to a different version of the Kanye’s 2013 song “Bound 2.” North channeled her dad from head to toe, while Kim danced along in the background.

But fans are calling her out for her “uncomfy” performance in the video, criticizing her for being too “sexual” for a video she’s making with her child. To add to the matter, Kanye has been very vocal (and very public) about his feelings when it comes to North creating TikTok content.

He shared his thoughts on the “Hollywood Unlocked” podcast last year, and accused Kim of “poking the bear or trying to antagonize me or create this crazy narrative.”

In response, Kim said in a public statement that she allows North to “express her creativity” on TikTok because it “brings her happiness.” She also reminded everyone that North only has access to their shared account, not all of TikTok, and that all of her TikTok activity is “managed by an adult.” All comments are always turned off, too, so when people respond to the videos they do so via Reddit or other social media outlets.

That being said, people had thoughts about North impersonating her dad while Kim danced along.

In an intimate interview Kim gave “Angie Martinez IRL” last month, she opened up about her emotions regarding her divorce from Kanye, the private matters he’s made public fodder, and how she protects her kids from public scrutiny.

“If they don’t know things that are being said or what’s happening in the world why would I ever bring that energy to them? That’s like real heavy, heavy grown-up shit. That they are not ready to, like, deal with. One day my kids will thank me for sitting here and not bashing their dad when I could.”

Though Kanye hasn’t made any public comments about this most recent TikTok video, he spent 2022 being very vocal about Kim and his kids, often stooping to publicly humiliate his ex-wife. Somehow, though, Kardashian has been able to keep her children from having to shoulder the burden of it all.

“In my home, my kids don’t know anything that goes on in the outside world,” Kim explained on the podcast. “I’m holding on by a thread, and I know I’m so close to that not happening, but while it’s still that way, I will protect that to the end of the earth as long as I can.”
