Home / News / Celebrity News Chrissy Teigen: It’s not okay to ask someone if they’re pregnant When a commenter asked "baby bump?" Chrissy shut it down. By Heather Marcoux June 8, 2019 Rectangle So many of us have been there, and maybe didn’t know what to say. Luckily, when someone asked mom of two and notably not pregnant person Chrissy Teigen if she was sporting a “baby bump”, Teigen had a great response. The exchange happened on Friday after Teigen posted a pic of herself and husband John Legend. The pair are on vacation right now and spent part of it recreating scenes from the reality TV show Four Weddings (never change, Chrissy). That’s why Chrissy is wearing both a towel and a bridal veil in the photo she put on Instagram on Friday. She’s having fun with John and looks as amazing as any human can in a bath towel, but one commenter asked simply “baby bump?” data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version="4" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"> Chrissy took the time to reply to the commenter, asking them to “think twice about asking this, there are people who have trouble conceiving and it hurts every time.” She continued: “I’m not pregnant but would be happy if I were. But I’m also happy not to be!” Teigen has previously talked publicly about how her body has changed since becoming a mom, and how it’s something that has taken some getting used to. In another comment following this exchange, she noted: “I’m already reminded of it every time I get out of the shower, I don’t need to hear it on the daily lol.” Teigen’s clearly taking this with a dose of humor, and as a public figure she’s probably used to reading insensitive comments, but her advice to the Instagram user can be applied to anyone who is about to ask any person (famous or not) if they are pregnant: Just don’t. Trust us, pregnant people will tell you if they want you to know but nobody owes anyone an explanation for their body. (Even if that body is on the internet in a town reenacting reality TV moments).
