Bindi and Terri Irwin adorably troll us with baby’s first ‘croc encounter’

As far as adorable April Fool’s Day jokes go, the Irwin family is absolutely at the top of the list. The beloved family of former Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin definitely has a special place in the hearts of people worldwide, and watching his daughter Bindi carry on his legacy with her new family is so special to see. Baby Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, who was born just over one week ago, is already playing a big part with the crocodile-loving family.

In a Twitter post that quickly went viral, Bindi’s mom Terri shared how the family celebrated April Fool’s Day with baby Grace. Surprise! The newborn had her first official “croc encounter.”

Rather than a fierce crocodile, Grace and her family are surrounded by some fierce pairs of Croc shoes! Ta-da! See? Absolutely adorable and the perfect “prank” for the wildlife-loving Irwins.

Bindi announced she was expecting her first child late last summer and shared regular updates about her pregnancy journey on Instagram. She announced her daughter’s arrival on March 25, which was also her first wedding anniversary with her husband, Chandler Powell, who also lives and works at Australia Zoo with the Irwin family. She also explained how the baby’s name honors the conservationist legacy of her father.

“Grace Warrior Irwin Powell,” Bindi wrote on Instagram. “Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light. Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad. There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”

During her pregnancy, Bindi recreated a precious family photo as a way to include her dad in her pregnancy. In the OG photo, proud Papa Steve is seen kissing Terri’s pregnant belly, and in the new one, Chandler is showing his love for Bindi’s baby bump.

The “croc encounter” was an instant hit on Twitter yesterday, probably because we could all use a feel-good April Fool’s Day joke this year.
