As usual, there was no shortage of accomplishments from her past year that Beyoncé could have recounted in an Instagram post to commemorate her birthday. So it truly speaks volumes that at the top of the list is her role as a mother and wife.

“At 36, I became a new mother of three. I breastfed twins,” she says. “I renewed my vows with my husband of ten years. I came back home to the stage to do Coachella, after pregnancy. Then my husband and I released our album together, Everything Is Love .”

To her, these moments with her children and husband are what made the past year “monumental.” As she adds, “We’ve been touring with our family around the world, and loving it.”

That Beyoncé—a woman whose talents seriously know no end and whose accolades are endless—considers family to be her greatest source of pride is so validating…

It’s validating to those of us who question what we really accomplished in the day .

It’s validating to those of us who are desperate to find that elusive “work-life balance.”

It’s validating to those of us who feel like we’re doing everything fine, but nothing great.

It’s validating to those of us who wonder when we’ll feel like ourselves again.

It’s validating to those of us who are putting effort each and every day into our relationships.

It’s validating because grappling with all of this is worth it, even to Beyoncé.

As Beyoncé continues in her post, her goal is to learn from the past, live in the present, and surrender to the future. That seems to be a lesson that really took root with the birth of her twins in 2017, which she recently revealed was physically traumatic.

“After the birth of my first child, I believed in the things society said about how my body should look. I put pressure on myself to lose all the baby weight in three months, and scheduled a small tour to assure I would do it. Looking back, that was crazy. I was still breastfeeding when I performed the Revel shows in Atlantic City in 2012. After the twins, I approached things very differently… To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller. I have a little mommy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it. I think it’s real.”

We’re here all day long for Beyoncé’s wisdom on motherhood and marriage. As in everything else she does, she’s proven to be a true inspiration for family life, too. ❤️
