By Amanda Jennings Updated Feb. 03, 2025 www.wtvy.com Rectangle Talk about making an entrance! Baby Dallas Mitchell was born in the most unexpected place during a rare snowstorm in Dothan, Alabama—a Krispy Kreme parking lot. His incredible story, covered by WTVY, has captured hearts across the region. His parents, Sha’nya Bennett and Keon Mitchell, will surely be sharing his unforgettable birth story for years to come. It all started when a powerful winter storm swept through southern Alabama, dropping an unbelievable five inches of snow. Such extreme weather is practically unheard of in a region that typically sees no more than a light dusting every few years. As Sha’nya watched the snow with her 5-year-old son on that Wednesday morning, January 22nd, she started to feel contractions. When it became clear baby Dallas was on the way, Sha’nya and Keon braved the icy roads, heading for Flowers Hospital with 911 on the phone to guide them. But just a mile from the hospital, Dallas had other plans. “I felt my baby’s head while we were at the red light,” Sha’nya said. In that moment, Keon stepped into the role of hero dad, delivering their baby boy while emergency responders raced to the scene. “I saw him sliding out and I’m like, ‘Come grab him, come grab him!’” Sha’nya called out to Keon as Dallas made his dramatic debut. Reflecting on the moment, Keon shared, “I don’t know how I stayed calm because I was really scared.” Despite the chaos, Sha’nya felt empowered: “I felt like superwoman,” she told WTVY. “It’s an experience to remember,” Sha’nya added. Dallas, weighing 5 pounds, 14 ounces, is thankfully doing great, and his parents are looking forward to bringing him home soon. To celebrate the family’s snowy adventure, Krispy Kreme’s team stepped in with a heartwarming gesture. The store manager gifted them free donuts for a year and promised to throw Dallas his very first birthday party in 2026. And as if his grand entrance wasn’t sweet enough, Sha’nya recently shared an update with the world—she’s nicknamed her son “Glaze” in honor of his unique birth story. She took to Instagram to post about the adorable moniker, and the Washington Post shared the update here: Washington Post Instagram.
