Snooki was mom-shamed for drinking wine while feeding her baby—but she’s not having it

Nicole “Snooki’ Polizzi recently shared a photo of herself bottle feeding her newborn son, Angelo, while having a glass of red wine. As Snooki pointed out in her caption, she’s a mom of three now, so we’d say she totally deserves a drink if she wants, and most commenters seem to agree—but not everyone sees it that way.

“You not suppose to drink alcohol if you breastfeeding your baby,” one Instagram user writes in regards to the photo, which Snooki captions “What’s mom life like with 2 kids and a newborn?” THIS.”

Ugh. We’d love to say we’re surprised, but honestly, it seems like moms can’t do anything without falling victim to the shamers. The good news? Snooki manages to stand up for herself…and all the exhausted, overwhelmed mamas out there who just want a glass of wine at the end of the day. “You’re not a mom. I allow myself to have a few glasses once a week to stay sane with 3 kids. I do what’s necessary to clean my milk for my baby. Let a mawma live and keep being 17,” she writes.

Fortunately, most commenters are voicing support for the mama of three. “Came to see all the judgy moms stupid comments! Mama of 4 boys and I’m currently drinking out of my sons paw patrol cup!” one follower shares. “It’s so annoying when people want to comment and don’t have kids like please have kids and then your allowed to comment,” another adds.

Snooki has a few celeb mamas in her corner as well. Jessie James Decker writes “I’m feelin this one.” Same, girl. Same.

While she’s getting some backlash, Snooki isn’t doing anything wrong here. Research shows that it’s okay to have the occasional drink while breastfeeding. Let’s not forget that Snooki isn’t even nursing in the photo, she’s bottle feeding—no one should assume a mom is breastfeeding just because she has a new baby.

Ultimately, when it comes to how you feed your baby and whether you’re comfortable having a glass of wine while doing so, you’re calling the shots, mama. And no social media user has a right to comment.
