By Deena Campbell April 14, 2020 Rectangle If there’s anyone who knows how to keep your body in optimum condition, it’s Serena Williams. The tennis champ has won 10 major titles since her 30th birthday, which is seven more than any other woman in the Open era. Williams is a true athlete and there’s no way the tennis champ could move around the court at lightning speed without having mastered the art of stretching. And now, thanks to the world being on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, you too can try William’s killer stretches. On Friday, the 23-time Grand Slam winner shared an Instagram video that explained her lower-body stretches, giving special attention to hip flexors. “For me, when I work out it’s about flexibility, and staying limber and trying to keep it all going,” she said. “I love being flexible—it’s a lot of fun.” data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version="4" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"> According to research at the Mayo Clinic, stretching is extremely important, but shouldn’t be considered a warmup. Before stretching, warm up with light walking, jogging or biking at low intensity for 5 to 10 minutes. Also, if possible, stretch in a smooth movement, without bouncing. Bouncing might injure your muscles and give you tightness. Thanks for sharing this stretch, Serena! And, as you so eloquently stated, “now more than ever, we are all one team.” The latest News ‘The world will never be the same’: Doctor delivers powerful affirmations to newborn News This viral TikTok is changing how parents teach kids to accept apologies News 29 years later, toddler recreates mom’s childhood photo—and it’s a viral hit Holidays Kylie Kelce’s candid take on holiday gifts: ‘Please don’t buy these for my kids’
